I saw him years ago at the Martin Taylor guitar festival in Ayrshire. I was stunned at the sound he was getting from that old heap of junk(heap of junk being a Martin I believe) . No other help either, just himself playing. His pa system packed in during a song so he sang into the soundhole of his guitar so he could still be heard.
I dont think I've seen so much energy from a player before or after for that matter. He certainly stole the show 8-) He even outshone Martin :?

Tommy plays his acoustics almost exlusively on an Australian guitar called Maton. Nowadays he seems to confine his shows on acoustic guitars rather than electrics. I have seen 3 of his shows in Australia over the last 15 years playing earlier electric and later "unplugged" and he is truly AWESOME. He is definitely the guitarists' guitarist. He is also very humble and friendly when I chatted with him post show. His older brother Phil is also a guitar maestro - along the lines of rockabilly and rock genre. There is an album featuring them both on electric called Terra Firma I think.
