Yep, it still exists as Hank mentioned in a RC interview years ago but said it won't be released as it wasn't finished.

While never a huge Bowie fan there are several tracks of his which have punctuated my life and really do bring back memories of all kinds. I think that's what great music does.

Re. The Shadows version of LIFE ON MARS...

Incredible! I had no idea.

What a shame this was never finished and released. Maybe now would be the time to do this? I'd buy it.

Upon the news of Bowie's death...

Distinguished bassist Herbie Flowers, praised for his work on the Lou Reed song Walk on the Wild Side – produced by David Bowie – says: ‘For me, Bowie was the greatest British artist since Shakespeare.’

Quite a tribute from an artist whose own multi-faceted career includes co-writing (with Kenny Pickett) the 1971 Clive Dunn chart hit Grandad.

Very sad that he died, but the compulsive sudden Bowiemania is getting very boring

I've noticed many of his albums have re-entered the charts.

I'm ashamed to say it's taken David Bowie's death and the extensive media coverage of his career to make me realise what an extraordinary creative genius he was and how much great music he made. I remember how friends at school tried to persuade me to listen to Hunky Dory and Ziggy Stardust but all I was interested in was trying to persuade them that Rockin' With Curly Leads or Me and My Shadows were great LPs. I never really listened to songs like Life on Mars properly until now - just took them for granted.

Anyway, even if you're not a fan, surely it's preferable to hear media coverage of David Bowie rather than endless 'historical sex abuse', 'radicalised Jihadi suicide bombers' and 'freak weather - what are we doing to our planet?' etc. which seems to constitute 90% of the news nowadays.

I think he was wildly over rated and we are suffering the 'Diana effect' yet again.
