I'm very sad to hear this awful news.
I had the enormous pleasure to work with Chris and the guys from Legend in December of 2001.
Chris, David, Terry, Martin, myself and Dick Plant gathered at Honeyhill Studios to
record 18 tracks that eventually became the album "In The Beginning…"
As ever with Legend, they were playing tracks mainly from the Burns period.
Chris had John Rostill's bass parts down to a tee.
And, as I'm sure you all know, that's no mean feat.
He and Martin were a great partnership. Drums and bass, always so important to any great band.

Aside from the recording, I remember taking a lovely walk around the garden with Chris.
I'll remember him as a gentle, calm and distinguished man with a very dry sense of humour.
And boy, could he play that bass.

My love and deepest sympathy go out to his family.

God bless you, Chris.

Oh no, what horrible news. Chris was a true gentleman, with a ready laugh and a supportive comment for everyone. I always enjoyed dealing with him, especially the wonderful chats with our post-show drinks! It was an honour to have known him. No Shadows event will ever feel the same again.

I am deeply saddened by this awful news. Chris was a pleasure to be around, his positive attitude was infectious and his playing was awesome. As has been said his dedication to exacting the Rostill sound/technique was amazing and I will always treasure the memories of playing over the years in Scarborough alongside Chris on bass.
I also remember when Ange and I ran the St Neots club and Legend came to play for us his true love for that era of Shadows music was so evident
Angela and I send our deepest condolences to all Chris's family.
Rest in peace my friend

This is devastingly sad news. I did not have the pleasure of knowing Chris personally but I was a big fan of his work. He kept John Rostill's memory alive all these years. There are many wonderful videos on YouTube of him at Shadowmania. I am so very sad that we've lost this great musician and gentle soul.

My sincere condolences to the Jarvis Family and to all members of Legend.

God bless you, Chris. Rest in peace.

I am very sad to hear this news. I always really enjoyed seeing Legend play - and Chris was such an important part of the sound and the presentation. And wow - what attention to detail in figuring out (and playing) those bass parts on those (mostly) obscure tunes. Sincere condolences to his family. RIP Chris

So sorry to hear this. I saw him at Whitby last August and we chatted for a long time. I was gutted when Terry rang me today. Such a lovely man and a great bass player. My condolences to his family especially Phil. RIP mate.
