Chris was one of the loveliest and most modest (yet very talented) people I ever met. After first seeing Legend many years ago, I was struck immediately by Chris's masterly bass playing which uncannily replicated that of John Rostill. No one has ever come anywhere near as Chris. No one. As John's biographer, he was delighted that I had noticed! We became firm friends. I knew that Chris had been ill three or so years ago but I assumed (hoped) that he was in remission. So it was a shock when I received a phone call on Thursday evening to say that Chris was gravely ill. Tragically.....less than 5 days later he had passed away. I am still in a state of shock. My thoughts are with his family and friends. In this day and age - he has been taken from us prematurely. Fortunately, we can still listen to Chris's brilliant playing with Legend.......and there is something fabulous (sadly posthumously ) still to come (But I can say no more about this project for the time being). He will be greatly missed. RIP Chris.
