Saw Jeff Beck at Bristol Colston Hall last night.
He was his usual amazing self and blew everyone away. Towards the end of the set he remarked that the previous night some guy in the audience had asked him to play some rock and roll . "Well it doesn't get any more rock and roll than this", says Jeff and promptly plays "Nessun Dorma"!
He did two encores, the final one being just him and his Strat giving us a rendidtion of "God Save the Queen" to the still standing audience who then felt obliged to stay on their feet! He ended it with the opening chords to Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower"! His band were superb musicians in their own right and although he didn't have young Tal on bass, Rhonda Smith more than ably filled her shoes. She also sang and did a wonderful "Mary Ford" voice on "How High The Moon" when Jeff strapped on a Les Paul and paid (and played) tribute to the great man.
A fantastic gig.
