TOM LODGE R.I.P.

Postby anniv 63 » 06 Apr 2012, 19:54

Former Senior D J/ Programme Controller of Radio Caroline passed away from cancer on 25th March. Although of course he had no
connection with the Shadows his programming policy on both the North and South Ships was quite influential between 1964-66 as many
of the stations listeners will remember.
To quote from Ray Davies on the cover of Tom's Biography 'The Ship That Rocked The World'
"Radio Caroline was more adventurous than most of the other pirate stations in its day. It championed bands like the Kinks who owe
much of their early success to Radio Caroline and Tom Lodge"

The pirates did actually play a lot of Shadows material and I'm sure Tom will have had a say in that.
Sorry to hear this news.
