For me, one of the perks of reaching 60 is that women don't chase me as often as they used to.

But on those rare occasions when they do ... I'm much easier to catch.

Where I live, there are several perks for senior citizens (defined as over 60).

1. You are legally entitled to 20% discount at all restaurants and for certain food and other items at grocery stores. Plus an exemption from VAT on those bills.
2. You can use special lines when queuing up at government offices or at the airport. Or they'll allow you to the head of the queue.
3. Movies are free, 24/7 in some cities, on some days in others.

I know mandatory retirement ages are illegal in some countries, but they are normal here. The retirement at my firm is 60 for support staff and 65 for line. My secretary of 33 years turned 60 in 2012, but they allowed her to stay on till I retired late last year and for the two or so months it took me to pack up my room. I now keep an office elsewhere to finish some work, also in the main business district, and go four days a week. My secretary joined me immediately and made the transition seamless. She comes three days a week. We observe a "smart casual" dress code, and, except for a few meetings, I stopped wearing a tie. We keep very flexible hours, and tend to be off by 4:30. As work winds down, I'll cut my working week to three days and so on.

I prepped for retirement even in my last years at the firm. I bought a neat, small sailboat, set up a nice workshop for me to work on my old cars, and a nice studio.

The problem is that my good friends have gotten older, too, some not as well. Some can't play anymore or now do so with difficulty (arthritis), and almost all not fit enough to do a major commercial show. I keep tabs on one prone to depression and try to cheer him up. If I were to do another show, II have to enlist younger members, but that is an advantage, too.
