Spencer Davis Group

Postby Derek Mowbray » 14 Dec 2015, 21:33

I came across this video clip from a German pop show called Beat Club ,with the group singing Somebody Help Me live not miming what caught my attention was how well Spencer could speak German. I don`t suppose things were ever so good when Steve and Muff Winwood left the group wonder if he still performs.

One of my most memorable gigs was an all-nighter at Warwick University where my band was supporting The Spencer Davis Group - must have been 1965, not long after their hit with Keep On Running. Great band!

Spencer Davis & Steve Winwood live on French tv pop show 27/04/1966, both playing through Burns Orbit solid state amplifiers. Not too much natural distorion to expect from those amps... Steve has to use a fuzz stomp box to keep it running ;) https://youtube.com/watch?v=BtDce6ZFZXg

Another TV performance from 1966. Full length concert on Finnish TV pop show "Valmiina...pyörii". Translated more or less to "Ready..roll it"

EDIT: The date info given for the Youtube clip of "Vamiina..pyörii" is wrong. The Spencer Davis Group held an concert in Helsinki, with my attendance, in Kulttuuritalo (House of Culture) on Feb.27.1967. The TV show was taped the following day.

Last time I checked, the film "Here We Go, Round The Mulberry Bush" was still available on YouTube, heaviy featuring the music of both Traffic and the Spencer Davis Group, who I believe are also visible very briefly.

(And don't forget Judy Geeson gets her kit off as well!)
