Bad Move...

Postby JimN » Fri Dec 08, 2017 1:30 pm

Has anyone else seen the (relatively) new Jack Dee sitcom "Bad Move"?

It was played out Sepember/October but is still available (six 23-minute episodes) on the ITV Hub (on Sky TV, at least).

It's a sort-of continuation of the his brilliant (BBC) "Lead Balloon" series of a few years ago, with the situation shifted from the London suburbs to a village in Yorkshire where a couple have moved - and regret it. The plots revolve around the disadvantages of rural life by comparison with their former life in bustling, metropolitan, Leeds and their interaction with an impossibly trendy and PC couple who lead an apparently perfect life, the proprietors of the local shop, Jack's father in law (played by the wonderful Philip Jackson) and an immensely rich rock star who owns the neighbouring mansion.

But why am I mentioning all this here?

Have you seen the programme? And heard the theme music?

Yeah, unfortunately not a patch on Lead Balloon. Like the theme song though! (Glad they used the original - it has been mentioned here before.)

I knew absolutely nothing about this programme when it was broadcast .

Not, of course, that I bother keeping an eye on the ITV schedules, which is usually a total waste of time.

I will pay this series the minimum compliment it deserves, which is that there was no need for it to be on ITV because it is easily good enough to be on BBC2 or BBC4.

. . . . and the theme music is . . . . ?

(my 405-line black and white telly doesn't seem to tune to this 'ITV Hub' channel)

PS: I see that the previous exchange of posts on the subject of this programme was on or around 14th October.

I was in the middle of our three-week USA holiday at the time. I had access to the internet but clearly wasn't paying sufficient attention...

I think they're being a bit harsh on you Jim - looks like the only thread created in the sub-forum during your US holiday, so you could be forgiven for overlooking it!!

Anyway happy new year. Don.
