Interesting video- great players 1929-1969

Postby cockroach » Sun Jul 22, 2018 5:22 pm

Interesting short video I found whilst watching something else..

Any comments?

n.b. Yes- it's quite possible your fave player has been omitted, but as the presenter says, it would be impossible to feature every great player in the period concerned..

Didn't expect to see Hank in a US based overview.

And Joe Pass playing a Fender!

I knew that Glen Campbell was a terrific guitarist and had played on many sessions but that clip of him playing on this video is just fantastic!

There's a poignant reason to Joe using that Jaguar- he was in rehab for heroin addiction at the time, and as he recovered and
'got clean' and started playing again etc, he used that guitar, which was owned by Synanon, the rehab centre he was attending.

Little known here of what an incredible guitarist Glen Campbell is.
just try catching the solo on this one, doesn't play it on his hit record.
It's fantastic and just one of many on youtube.

I agree with every one of these important guitarists, but I wonder what Keith Richards has to do in this series ... ;-)

Well, I suppose he's still popular and influential for some players and has been going for a long time too!

As the presenter said, it would have been impossible to include everyone's favourites, so...some were included whilst others perhaps more deserving in some folks' opinions were excluded.

I just thought the video was a reasonable attempt to cover all bases- especially considering a lot of early players , the range of music styles they played, and especially because as it was an American production...and they put Hank in there!! :) :) :)
