Sadly due to health deteriorating I have decided to stop playing guitar. I stopped playing drums some time ago, but now I am finding it very difficult to play the guitar...I haven't put a guitar in my hands for 9 months....
I have been playing music since I was 12 years old and have had lots of enjoyment from doing that for 58 years.... It got me through some bad times, It was my living for a time and
I made some great friends, including some people on this site, and I thank you for your friendship and wish you all the very best..

Kindest regards,
Jim McLachlan

Jim, Sorry to hear about the bad health and that you are giving up playing.
I have enjoyed your sound files over the years and you will be sorely missed.
All the best for the future.
Regards,
Jim

You’ve hung on remarkably well Jim. Sorry the health has kiboshed your playing at long last but you can look back on some good music made!

With all good wishes - Iain

Hi Jim. That’s very sad! I’m in my seventies and sometimes wonder when I will have to stop. Music is food for our Soul - so I think it must have been a difficult decision for you to make.
Good luck with your health - I hope it will improve!
Best wishes Dave

Jim:
Sorry to hear you have had to give up the guitar.

I'm in my 70's, retired and still play electric and upright bass despite a recent year long battle with cancer.

I hope your health will improve and you can continue to post on this forum to help fill in the void.

Regards

We'll miss you at North Notts Jim, but as a previous poster remarked you still have the ability to listen and enjoy your favourite music.

PM me your address mate and I'll send you some Notts fly pie at Christmas.

Best wishes from all of us at North Notts Club,

Pete

Thanks everyone for you very kind wishes....

This is the reason I have had to pack up:

I saw my chest consultant yesterday who confirmed that there is significantly more scarring to my lungs due to the pneumonia I had February to April... That is what is making my breathing so bad. I can't walk from one room to another without I am gasping for breath.. There is nothing to be done as Fibrosis just gets worse the longer you have it and after each infection there is more scarring... There is no cure for it and I am already on all the meds and inhalers I can have plus I am now on oxygen virtually 24/7... Ultimately it will see me off, but I try not to think about it. I have had it for 21 years and gradually it has gotten worse, Now it is really bad.. Just got to try and make the best of a bad job....

Sorry to read this Jim, I can’t imagine not being able to pick up a guitar to have a play (however badly), look after yourself.
