What a very strange thing to do - then the world seems to get stranger. Didn't watch all of it. Just crazy!

I think it tells you something about the people who control 'Gibson'.

I hadn’t heard or read much about the Gibson Firebird, but seeing those guitars trashed made me feel quite nauseous! They could have been relabelled and sold off. I’m sure some people might have snapped them up. At least they could have salvaged the necks pickups and electrics!!
I think that video has done even more damage to the Gibson brand!

The video, released by ex-Gibson employee BJ Wilkes, shows a large collection of new Firebird X instruments being crushed by a construction vehicle. Wilkes worked for Gibson for six years, handling maintenance and facilities duties.
According to the former employee, Gibson chose to destroy a large amount of Firebird X guitars, after the model was met with poor sales. “Gibson literally could not sell these guitars and they were on the books,” Wilkes explained to YouTube channel Guitologist. He added that the company’s new investors were “trying to clean up the mess before the end of the fiscal year.”

Firstly I'll say that in my opinion wrecking them with a bulldozer isn't a bad thing, they are horrible guitars.
I does sadden me though that the Memphis factory has gone, I spent a few happy hours there whilst in Memphis and fo people like us who enjoy guitars, it was a big tourist attraction to be able to go around the factory and visit the showroom.
The factory at Oprey Mills in Nashville was destroyed by the floods about ten/twelve years ago so I guess that Gibson must have entirely new premises now.
I am a Fender man in a big way, but I do enjoy playing my Les Pauls' & 335/345 as well as the acoustics' along with my recently acquired Gretsch White Falcon, they each have a sound that one easily identifies with the sounds that they produce from listening tho the old records we love. :)

Surely that video is some sort of 'fake' news. I can't imagine any corporation destroying anything in that manner.
The guitars are lined up exactly in front of the treads - it's got to be a stunt! Why not just incinerate them?
