Barry,

Yes, there's no live view on the D3000 and I was a bit concerned about that. I'll have to look through the Nikon range a little closer and make some comparisons.

Have fun with the D90.

Hi all,

I have recently invested in the Canon 500D. worked out a grand for the camera and a lense. Before that I had a Canon 350D. The 500D is 15.1mp ..I know they say dont buy based on this but as I have printed pics up to 30 x 40 inches before it worked out well for me. Mine came as a bundle deal from Jessops so came with a lense, a memory card, and some filters. seven day shop online are worth looking at for cheap memory cards and other photography stuff. I used them alot during my uni days, saved on cost.

I did look at the Nikon that some of you are talking about my I am used to my Canons now and had lenses already etc. Though wouldnt rule out in getting a Nikon as well when I win the lottery. :D

Before that Ive got a medium format camera on my list to save up for. I have a degree in photography and Im afraid as handy as digital is nothing beats the developing of film and handprinting for gallery prints.

Also.. just a note on the shop assistants. dont be too hard on them. Having worked in a camera shop Im aware the staff often get no training on the camera side of things. There is also no qualification needed to get the job.. I dont think they even looked at my CV when they hired me. We only sold compact cameras and even then I was just lucky I knew about cameras any way. I know London Camera Exchange trains their staff .. I was offered a job there once on the basis that I had to pass exams regulary to keep my job there. and Im lucky theres a guy in my local Jessops who knows what hes talking about. Always worth going into a store and asking to test the cameras out then looking online for cheaper deals :)

Anyone got any of their photos online?

Bec xx

It's like buying a new printer. With most of them, especially Epson, you have to buy a USB lead to make it work. You'd think they would supply one after all they aren't exactly expensive.

Hi there,

I use a Nikon D90 and I am very pleased with it. I bought mine with a 18-105 mm lens from Jessops in Norwich.
For convenience sake when I am out with my family I use a Panasonic Lumix TZ7 which has a Leica lens the results are knockout.

This link below shows the basics of how to use the Nikon D90
