Sky mystery

THIS really annoyed me...

A few weeks ago I noticed a couple of sellers on Ebay selling a CD entitled 'SKY AT WESTMINSTER ABBEY'. Knowing that this had never been officially released on CD, I obviously ordered one to see what happened. A week or so later a BOB MARLEY CD arrived from the seller. I contacted them and asked what had happened... they apologised and said they'd refund the money. So, I then ordered the SKY CD from the other seller. And guess what just arrived? That's right... the exact same bl**dy Bob Marley CD! I have just fired off an email to them asking them what the hell they are playing at. Coincidence? I think not. I admit to being at a loss to explain it. Any ideas?

Here are the ebay listings concerned...

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sky-At-Westminster-A ... 2749.l2649

As a P.S. to this... I have just received a refund from the first seller (having had to remind them about this when it hadn't arrived) and the second seller is still advertising it... now at a higher price!

A mystery indeed... I have bought stuff from Music Magpie before (usually DVDs) and always had a quick refund if there was a problem (often with the option to keep the item!). I usually check their own website as there is sometimes a difference in price from the one they quote on eBay. No sign of the CD on their site.

I may also have bought the odd item from Momox via eBay and cannot recall any issues. I have a vague suspicion that they and MM have some connection. One dealer quotes the publisher of the CD as EMI (unlikely) and the other as unknown which suggests a bootleg to me. The Westminster Abbey concert came as a bonus DVD with the Eclectic / Cherry Red remastered SKY 3 album.

Quite why you got sent Bob Marley defies any logical explanation...

I have just read the ebay entry again, and Bob Marley is listed as the artist. Sometimes people create an entry by reusing a previos one but forget to change the details...

I've now received refunds from both sellers (which I suspect were actually one and the same somehow) and yet neither even attempted to explain how this happened. Sky Live at Westminster Abbey was NEVER released on CD anywhere in the world; which, of course, is why I bought it, to see what turned up! However, in addition to the Sky 3 bonus DVD, it was also released on video in the early 1980s and Laser Disc. I have the Laser Disc (although no machine to play it on) and someone did me a copy of it many years ago onto DVD... the picture and sound quality are extraordinary! I mean, hi-fi sound doesn't begin to describe it! Play it in a surround sound system and it is literally awe inspiring. Maybe, if I knew how, I could rip the sound from the DVD, burn a CD and then... voila!

In the meantime, I see that one of the sellers is still advertising it, but at double the price! I received THIS email from them...

We are really sorry for shipping the wrong item/a defective item or an item that does not meet your expectations.

Please be assured that we have a strict control system and never send an item if anything is obviously wrong. Of course, we will instantly refund your money.

It is not necessary to ship your order back to us.

Unfortunately, we cannot send on a good copy. We kindly ask you to place a new order.

Best regards,

Well, at least they don't want it back! And, what a great idea... I'll order it again and then receive the wrong CD again and then go through all this again!
I am tempted. I mean... why not, eh?
