Is this a scam...?

Postby drakula63 » Sat Jul 18, 2020 6:11 pm

Received this email. Needless to say, I won't be responding and it will be deleted. Just wondering if anyone else has received one or, against all the odds, if it is legit? Personally, I'm not interested even if it is legit.

Good day ,

I found your music online and hope it's alright to contact you here.

I'm an A&R representative at SRL Music Discovery XO in London, an artist relations company representing independent musicians and labels around the world. We are looking for new music for our radio network, music licensing catalog and artist promotion roster, and I'd like to invite you to audition.

Subject to a successful audition, Music Discovery XO will get your music heard by entertainment industry professionals and fans around the world, and help facilitate music licensing and distribution deals, live events and touring opportunities, record label and music publisher deals, and other career opportunities. You will receive a detailed agreement once your audition has been successful.

Please do get in touch, it would be a pleasure to hear from you. In the meantime, you can also find out about the audition and reserve an audition ticket at https://backstage.skunkradiolive.com/p/ ... tions.html

Have a nice day.

Lol! How likely is a scenario like this to occur? It totally reeks of a scam.

Yeah. Most record companies and management companies are probably bombarded with demos and suchlike every day; I doubt that they would have to advertise or contact people themselves. I'm at a loss to know how they got my email address or what 'music' of mine they've found! Admittedly there are a few videos out there on youtube in which I am playing the drums... but hardly 'my' music! All a bit mysterious. Maybe if I was 21 I might chance it. But at 57, it ain't gonna happen now anyway or anyhow!

I think 'found your music' is a bit like the phone calls about 'the accident you had that wasn't your fault'. They must get lucky sometimes.
