I think we are part of a small minority! Whenever I tell people I go to Shadows Clubs, they don't have a clue what I'm on about.

I'm sure most of them think it's some sort of role-playing game whereby I wear a big black cloak and carry a sword.

I do find this sight very interesting. I read a lot of it, and often trawl through the old posts and find something I had overlooked or not considered.

But I only post if I think it will contribute to the matter in question. From reading their posts, I judge that there are a number of very knowledgable members, so I try to avoid making a post which only contradicts their post and does not, in my opinion, add to all our knowledge.

But in these troubled times I would like to express my personal thanks to all the members, some of whom I have met in Shadows Clubs.

Kindest regards,
Christopher

I know just what you mean. First time I visited The Surrey Shadows, I thought I'd make a real effort to blend in. Here's an actual photo of my arrival on the night:

Surprised they let me back the following month, but luckily, just like everyone here, they're a friendly bunch :D .

On a serious note though, when I mentioned to one of our neighbours that we'd been to a Shadows club, I had to explain just who the Shadows were, as she really had no idea  .

Iain Purdon wrote:As mentioned above, there are many more visitors here than there are members. I imagine a fair number of them land here as a result of Google searches or their equivalent. Search for something more specific than the group name and this site is much more likely to come up. To make this a priority finding on a Google search for “The Shadows” we would have to pay Google. We have no money apart from kind donations some members make (see Donate at the top). Any money received this way goes towards our internet hosting charges, on which we nearly break even...

Thanks Ian. Now I know.

Just a minor point, Iain, but it would appear the Forum is still in British Summer Time!

As things are a bit quiet at the moment, can someone help with this request. Having recently had a birthday I was recalling my earliest Shadow music recollections and think I remember there was an EP in the early sixties (that my sister bought) of the band clustered together in relaxed mood with guitars and they were wearing heavy knit wooden jumpers with bright colours. I also think Tony Meehan was sat on the floor at the front. I have looked on the web but cannot find the EP and relevant cover picture. I am sure my memory is not at fault, does anyone have this EP? If so, could you please post a photo? Regards, Stewart

Sounds like an EP from their first LP - The Shadows No. 1 or No. 2, possibly? Must've been quite hard to move in those wooden jumpers ;)

Sorry - don't know how to upload a picture. "Th extension webp is not allowed".
