Windows inputs - No Equalisation available

Just a Rant:--
I simply wanted to apply some equalisation to the Web Cam mic to remove the boomy sound to my voice - when using Zoom.
I use the Logitech C920 camera which is supposed to be a good camera and mike. Support from Logitech is very limited.
However the Mike only runs at 16K or 32K Bits/sec - so it won't run with my DAW which is running at 44.1k.
I bought a cheap USB mike - but that is boomy as well.

Is it so difficult for Zoom to include bass cut for mics - Logitech to make their audio configurable to something we all use - or windows drivers to include an equaliser.

I could use something like "Voicemeeter" and its associated cable - but that will probably wreck my DAW Roland firewire interface. Why go so complicated.

When I use my proper recording mikes its ok - but I want to keep them in the case so I don't forget one.

Anybody know of a simple way of adding eq to usb mike inputs to Win10?

I had a similar problem until a few weeks ago - a very bassy and boomy quality on all audio apps and all input types. It made no difference whether I was recording stereo mix from the soundcard or line-in from a hi-fi (I don't have much use for a microphone).

It was cured by setting all audio settings back to "default". Apparently, it had managed to get itself changed from that to some sort of stereo enhancement.

It must have been a Windows update, because I definitely didn't make that settings change.

I don’t know if this is a factor here but a lot of microphones will boom if you work too close to them. However if you move them away to avoid that you may then pick up room noise and audio reflections off hard surfaces. Windows (glass ones) can be a culprit and drawing the curtains should improve the acoustics. Otherwise you may need to get your better mic out of its case!

I have checked my Windows configuration - all enhancements are off.
Yes using my expensive mike the boom is less - but still there.

I did set up Mike into Daw and StereoMix. Set Zoom to use Stereo mix but got a lot of distortion - even after double checking bit rates.
I note may people get distortion using Stereomix.

Anyway the ureka moment came when I looked up and noted the Soundcraft Ui16 mixer on the shelf. I look after it for the club.
All sorted now.
