Happy Thanksgiving

Postby John Boyd » Tue Nov 23, 2010 10:23 am

I'm heading to the US tomorrow to spend Thanksgiving with my son in the Colorado mountains.
Some 'wag' sent this to me this evening. Enjoy!

A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The
parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary.

Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious
and laced with profanity. John tried and tried to
change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only
polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could
think of to 'clean up' the bird's vocabulary.

Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot.
The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the
parrot got angrier and even more rude. John, in desperation,
threw up his hand, grabbed the bird and put him in the
freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked
and screamed.
Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard
for over a minute.

Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly opened
the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out
onto John's outstretched arms and said "I believe I
may have offended you with my rude language and
actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my
inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do
everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior."

John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude.

As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a
dramatic change in his behavior, the bird spoke-up, very
softly, "May I ask what the turkey did?"

Greetings from Silverthorne, Colorado.
We're up about 9,000 feet in the mountains and it's cold - VERY COLD.
When I went out walking this afternoon, the temperature had made it as far as 20 degreesF - you do the conversion.
Quite a shock to the system of a little old boy from NZ, where it is just coming in to summer.
Glad some of you enjoyed the Turkey story. Our Thanksgiving turkey (and pumpkin pie) was just great.
I'll be returning home in early December with the basis of my next 'partscaster' - I have purchased a Mexican Classic series maple neck and body (Fiesta Red of course) to go with a set of US gold hardwaqre and a set of 57/62 pickups.
It's now around 5.20pm and dark. The big decisions of the moment are what style of beer to open and where to go for dinner. The choices in this very small town (permanent pop. of around 3,000) are as varied as you'd find in any large city.
Maybee I'll suggest Mexican - something nice and hot!!!
Cheers,
JB

Hi John
Enjoy the meal John and the holyday. Bit like Colorado here this morning, everything covered in snow and -2. Unlike the rest of my family I love the snow and the cold weather. Anyway hope the guitar project goes ok and have a safe journey home next month.
Regards Geoff.

Hello Geoff,
I haven't forgotten about Vol 2 of 'Rock on With Cliff'. It's packed ready to go but it just got overlooked in my holiday preparations. It will definitely be with you by Christmas.
Our plans for the day are to go out for a massive breakfast as only the Americans seem to be able to do it, then spend a few hours ouside hanging the Christmas lights. 21 degrees F at the moment - that's at 9.20am. We're due to get to 40 - wow!!
Cheers,
JB
