Yes I saw The Hollies many years ago at the Odeon Cinema in Leeds with the original line up, in the days of one night package tours with many acts on the bill, good value for money in those days.I don`t doubt that The Hollies can put on a good show but a line up without Alan Clarke as lead singer can not be the same,it was bad enough when Graham Nash left .I certainly think that a line up of The Shadows without Hank Marvin would not be the same. When Bruce left for a while it probably was not quite as good.

Well no it can't be the same but why should it be? We had a total of 7 Shadows in the 60s and many more people have come and gone since. Each line-up was not the same as its predecessor but all won a place in people's hearts. If Hicks and Elliott are doing for the Hollies what Bruce in particular has done to keep the Shadows flame burning, all power to their elbows!

One of my favourite groups/bands they were. Brilliant harmonising.

I used to regularly see them at La Dolca Vita in Brum in the early 70's.

Whilst a London boy, and at that time a busy DJ I used to set aside 4 weekends a year to go up and see a mate of mine and we'd do all of the clubs.

Oddly enough it was cheaper to take the train up on a Friday evening, hire a car from Budget, generally a Vauxhall Victor 2300 SL do two nights of clubbing and drive the car back to London on Sunday than to go out for one night in the West End, the entertainment was better as well.

It all came to an end when he introduced me to my now wife (33 years and counting!)
