Ahhhh! Halcyon days of yore!
Hawker hurricanes (I didn't know there were more than 1?) to see 4 back in the air is a real sight.

Spitfires! Gawd bless 'em ("Let the Hurricanes take the bombers, the Spitfires will take the fighters on!") Great words, great deeds, great guys, great aircraft...Thank you Mr Mitchell for your divine design! Your design and the Hurricanes saved dear old blighty!

The Supermarine Seafire. The mighty Lancaster...didn't see a DeHavilland Mosquito though? What an aircraft that was. The germans "hated" them and called them devils. Being so fast that they couldn't catch them, not could their aircraft match them for punch as well as power.

As for the other aircraft, the mighty Mustang P51 (designed, and, eventually re-engined by mating it with the mighty Merlin, what an aircraft that turned out to be (The Tuskagee airmen will thank the Brits for that one I am sure.)
The Thunderbolt. The Bell air Cobra. The Curtiss Warhawk. The Curtiss Tomahawk. The Lockheed Lightening and so on and so forth.

I don't live too far away and can get to Duxford, unfortunately i missed the meet. perhaps next year?

Arthur,

I understand the Mosquito no longer has a flying example available, I'm told this was the last known flying example. Anyone know of any?

Hi yah Bill

Sorry I haven't been on since 17th March...No! I don't know of any examples that are still flying..got to say though that watching that clip really upset me. I hope the Pilot etc got out? Did he/they?

What an aircraft with its twin Merlins humming nat full stretch...ooooh I go all weak at the knees still, just as I do when I see/hear the Spitfire...Mmmmmmm! As I said "halcyon days!"

Cheers Bill. ;)

Just as an "additional" piece of information. I don't live too far away from where they used to make the De Havilland Mosquito's. Just a few miles up the road ( 20 mins depending on traffic) They have a Museum there as well I beleieve? Must go visit the place sometime.

Arthur,

My Father in law (now deceased) and my mother inlaw met each other building 'Mossies' in UK in WW2 as a matter of fact. Father in law was orignally a cabinet maker and was 'recruited' to manufacture 'Mossies' and later went on to be an Air Tech in the Royal Navy for the rest of the war (Sea Mosquito's as you might have quessed!), Mother in law worked in the factory as of course lots of 'girls' did back then. ;)
