Joe Brown

Postby geoff1711 » Sat Mar 26, 2011 1:44 pm

If you get the chance, Joe Brown is currently on tour, saw him at Folkestone Thursday night, absolutely knocked out with the sound of him and his band.

Given that all the different instruments they all play have different tunings - Ukes, Mandolins, Guitars, Fiddle, Lap slide etc

And in the first half the wooden box drum machine.

Last time I saw him live, 5th Nov 1961 he played Hava Nagilla on guitar behind his head whilst doing the proper dance to it, this time he played it without the dance and on Mandolin.

How do I remember the date? I was just coming up for my 15th birthday and chose to go and see Joe Brown and The Bruvvers in concert in East Ham rather than have fireworks at home with my Dad, of course these days you'd have done both concert on the day fireworks day / week / month before or after, but back then you only had fireworks on Nov 5th, don't think my Dad ever really forgave me that one!!

Joe always puts on a great show with something for everyone. I'm sure Hank will always be indebted to him for passing on that echo unit :D
