I'd love to have had the chance to debate this on Sunday, but we were preoccupied with other things!

i would certainly have leapt to the defence of Stephen Moffat (a local lad) who (IMHO) wrote the best single episode of the Tennat years (Blink) and contributed many other excellent stories. And Karen Gillan is rapidly becoming a (Scottish) National Treasure...

That said, Saturday's episode (watched chez Alan Taylor) was overly confusing and cluttered, despite have some nice line and interesting ideas.

Stetsons are cool...

Sorry George, but I think that Stephen Moffat has been responsible for the poorest Doctor Who season ever; even worse than the worst excesses of John Nathan Turner with the tiresome "Tial of a Timelord" season.

Blink WAS very good but the statues were not good enough characters to justify the two-parter they got last season.

The new Silurians were ridiculous; whoever heard of reptiles with breasts?

The less said about the ludicrous new Daleks the better; they are just crap, all hump-backed and too big.

River Song is probably going to become the most over-rated character of all-time with a tedious story which will probably not tie-in to her death.

As for Karen Gillan, oh dear, not a very good actress; not experienced enough. As far as being a national treasure, that would only be fitting if she was buried on some island and forgotten about. She always sounds as if she is reading her lines off an idiot board.

How come that Moffat made Sherlock so good when his efforts with Doctor Who are so bad? Casts and scripts methinks.

With all this talk of Dr Who programmes, I am beginning to think may be the Royal Wedding day is looking a good bet to watch. At least they are only on every one to two decades

Very pleased to see that this thread has initiated some healthy debate/discussion/views, etc...

I'm afraid that I have been fairly underwhelmed by Steven Moffatt's writing contributions thus far. He began very well with 'The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances', but has failed consistently to match this since. I'll even be so bold as to say that I personally think that 'Blink' is one of the most strangely overrated stories in recent years. I found it preposterous, full of huge plot holes and totally illogical. I also find the Weeping Angels to be the least scary and most ludicrous Doctor Who 'monsters' of all. They simply make no sense. I suspect that they only reappear at all due to the fact that Moffatt's now head honcho. I also agree that the new, 'evolved' Silurians made no sense -- why would they evolve and simply stay underground for millions of years? The originals were the best. I gather that the Cybermen will be back in a few weeks. Let's hope the promised/rumoured redesigns are better than the appalling, hump-backed plastic Daleks!

Matt Smith I cannot fault - he's nailed it and is the most 'alien' Doctor since it came back. I gather he's just been nominated for a BAFTA. Well deserved. Dear, lovely Karen Gillan. What can I say? As an actress she's a great model. Rory, please go away. River Song, just hurry up and die, please.

I've been a viewer/fan for a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time, but I watch it now out of loyalty rather than for enjoyment. I'll watch Saturday's on Sunday evening, as I find myself with something better to do.

I look forward to the Elisabeth Sladen tribute, The Hand of Fear, on BBC4 on the 9th and 10th May. Now those really were the days...

Really quite surprised (and pleased!) to be able to say that I really enjoyed this week's Doctor Who episode - 'The Doctor's Wife'. I won't spoil it too much, I hope, by revealing that the title is a bit misleading!! A great episode, very imaginative, atmospheric and, in some ways, quite disturbing (the scenes in the TARDIS corridor with Rory and Amy). Still, it was written by Neil Gaimen, so what did I expect?! Haven't been impressed with the series thus far, but this episode was good. I hope the remainder of the series maintains this high standard.
