I'd love to have had the chance to debate this on Sunday, but we were preoccupied with other things!
i would certainly have leapt to the defence of Stephen Moffat (a local lad) who (IMHO) wrote the best single episode of the Tennat years (Blink) and contributed many other excellent stories. And Karen Gillan is rapidly becoming a (Scottish) National Treasure...
That said, Saturday's episode (watched chez Alan Taylor) was overly confusing and cluttered, despite have some nice line and interesting ideas.
Stetsons are cool...

Sorry George, but I think that Stephen Moffat has been responsible for the poorest Doctor Who season ever; even worse than the worst excesses of John Nathan Turner with the tiresome "Tial of a Timelord" season.
Blink WAS very good but the statues were not good enough characters to justify the two-parter they got last season.
The new Silurians were ridiculous; whoever heard of reptiles with breasts?
The less said about the ludicrous new Daleks the better; they are just crap, all hump-backed and too big.
River Song is probably going to become the most over-rated character of all-time with a tedious story which will probably not tie-in to her death.
As for Karen Gillan, oh dear, not a very good actress; not experienced enough. As far as being a national treasure, that would only be fitting if she was buried on some island and forgotten about. She always sounds as if she is reading her lines off an idiot board.
How come that Moffat made Sherlock so good when his efforts with Doctor Who are so bad? Casts and scripts methinks.
