Postby Alan Prudhoe » Sun Nov 01, 2009 1:08 pm

......... where Paul Rodgers of Free and Queen started his musical career?
- or Micky Moody of Whitesnake?
- or Bruce Thomas of the Sutherland Brothers and Quiver?

Well it was here in the North East - And all were members of the same group - Read all about it here!

And Brian Humpherson of The Cyclones too!! When they broke up and Brian went to teacher training college in Nottingham, he, with others, established the college group Sigmund and The Pedagogues, and a year later, in 1965, I arrived and joined up too...

A fabulous musician... (Brian that is... :P )

According to the vast Vintage Sixties Live database (back of a Woodbine packet) Brian Humpherson was in the Cyclones from Stockton featured here:

The Cyclones from Darlington (which Robbo refers to) were probably Jet Storme and the Cyclones featured here:

Small world eh?

Yes it was Jet Storm & The Cyclones, I knew Brian Myers, were the bass and rhythm guitarists called Alf and Pete?

I only met three of them as they came down in 1964 to visit the family of our drummer Derek Lunn, who's father Arthur had taken the job as postmaster at Chapeltown Post Office just outside Sheffield. They came to a couple of our gigs and I remember Brian's blue Strat, Alf's red P Bass and Pete's Futurama, I have photos of them with us somewhere - I'll dig them out.

Thanks Dave.
Yes that's them - Two of the members were Alf Tunstall and Pete Kelly. Pete was actually Jet Storme.
Sadly Brian is no longer with us.
His wife contacted me a couple of years ago for advice on selling the 1962 Ice Blue Strat.
I put her in touch with a trusted local dealer but I don't know if it was ever sold.
