N.I.SHADOWS CLUB JUNE REPORT

A good day and an unusal one,- we finished on time !!

Eric as MC did a great job keeping things moving and the day went very smoothly.

Things started with the "house" band of Jim,George,Hall,Chris and Des playing
the opening set. The playlist as usual was in two parts with everyone scheduled
to play two leads per half. The teenagers came first,Paul Hunter was followed by
his younger brother Sam and he by Chris Braniff. Chris was joined on drums by
his uncle Cyril, definately not a teenager! Sam was joined on bass by David Turner.
Simon came next with Eric on rhythm and Eric remained to join Jim Bennet who was
also backed on bass by Philip Hawthorne. Philip's own set followed with Mike on
rhythm then Eric was joined by George on rhythm. Bernard's set came next with
the usual suspects on backing. The first half was brought to a close by Simon and
Mike playing the Lute number.

The "house" band started the second half featuring Chris on keyboard playing
Telstar then Jim took lead on The High and the Mighty. Jim played rhythm to George
while George's son David joined on bass. We then had another first when young Sam
played rhythm behind his brother Paul on Walk Don't Run and Guitar Tango before
embarking on his own set. Next came Chris B joined again by his uncle Cyril on
drums and Mike on rhythm. Simon was once again joined by Eric and followed by Jim B
with George on rhythm while Eric did likewise on Philip's set. Bernard with Jim on
rhythm did an enlarged set allowing David to join on bass on It's a Man's World.
Eric with George on rhythm,David on bass finished the Shads sets.
John Davis sang two of his own-penned numbers solo on acoustic to close the day,
however Simon had learnt Jet's "Theme from Something Important" so we decided to end
with that. The lineup was,Simon on lead,Bernard 2nd quitar,Eric rhythm,Chris k/board
Hall drums and Des bass.

As usual many thanks to Hall who with a couple of exceptions spent the day on drums.
Chris played keyboard throughout the day with Des mostly on bass.
Also, many thanks to all who took part, even with a few absentees we played four dozen
tunes and would you believe 19 different band lineups???

I would like you to spare a thought for George, one of our stalwarts, who goes into
hospital for an operation this coming week. George could be missing for the next two
months and we wish him well.

Until next time, JULY 4th.
Des.

Yes a great day indeed.

I think I can speak for the rest of the club in wishing George all the best for his operation and all our thoughts will be with him. Here's hoping he makes a very speedy recovery and gets back to twanging away on his guitar real soon.

Don't learn too many new tunes while you are recuperating George, we can't keep up with you as it is

Cheers Eric
