I have done an expriment recording an excerpt from Theme From Shane, which is a good example of the early Hank sound. Since I don't have an AC30, I used a plugin to emulate an AC30 (Amplitube). The Amplitube gives the guitar just a slight reverb
My objective is to illustrate the difference the Ampworks makes. I have been wondering whether playing through Ampworks on a regular AC30 would make it sound more like an AC15 with EF86, in other words, whether it would impart to the AC30 a slightly more authentic early Hank sound. This experiment may not be of relevance for those who have all the right gear, but for those who don't, perhaps it might be interesting.
ShanePlain -- directly into PC without any amp simulation (raw Stratocaster sound).
Shane+Amplitube -- directly into PC with added Amplitube Vox modeling plugin.
Shane +Amplitube + Ampworks -- through Ampworks (AC15 setting, with lower bass and treble and higher mids) into PC with added Amplitube Vox modeling plugin.
I use the middle pickup and the BT is by Goran Tangring.
