Hank's picking.

Postby eugene » Sat Jul 16, 2011 9:36 am

Hello everyone!

I noticed that Hank uses up picking(picking up?) rather than down one.

I think former one is creating soft sound than latter.

Would you check this video up.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yc4qizq4Qbw

And I dare to say that Hank's picking is far stronger than we imagine.

And Spanish guitar technique of picking for 1st, 2nd, 3rd is up picking(picking up?)

What do you think about this technique ?

So sorry for my poor English.

Yes, Hank seems to pick up more than down in that video, Eugene.

I am very glad to see that you have agreed with my opnion.

And am astonished only you have noticed that. :o

It's been discussed before to be fair which is why some probably 'knew that already' sorta thing . Actually I was watching Richie Blackmore playing on UTube circa 1973 and noticed he did this a lot too ... it must change the tone of things slightly i guess but probably down to own technique unless someone else knows the reasons behind it.
