Hi all,

Hope everyone is doing well.

I updated the profile by adding some live video performances from the Hermosa Beach, California Surf Music Stomp Day 2010::

For this show, each band member basically listened to the songs at home and we played them on stage hence all the hesitations and confusion in the intros and outros.
The singer Danny Dean was just getting in from a show in Las Vegas, so he learned the songs in his car.

Too bad we can't hear the backup voices due to the short range of Danny's microphone.

"Do You Wanna Dance" and "We Say Yeah"

"Gee Whiz It's You"

"Nine Times Out of Ten" and "Tough Enough"

(I updated our Band profile with these 2 audio / Videos recordings that are going to be sent to mastering.
The previous tunes on the website were not properly mixed).

The 2 recordings from our (International Men Of Mystery, Ca. USA) 1st upcoming CD tribute to The Shadows.
We are sending the CD to mastering in the next few weeks.
We were asked to record it in analog mode, close to the playing and recording conditions of the original recording by The Shadows in 1961.

Shadoogie:

(Shadoogie was done in one take).

The Frightened City:

The pictures here are of the 2 earthquakes that hit my hometown in 1954 and 1980.
We had to redo this tune and eventhough my G string is a little sharp, we kept this recording as is.

I hope the ambiance and feel of the time (not quite the guitar sound), as well as the energy of the original are close in our recording.
I hope you like it.

Blessings
Abel

Hi all,

I updated the profile with new live videos of our band "International Men Of Mystery and Danny Dean", paying tribute to the early Cliff Richard and The Shadows at Suzy's in Hermosa Beach California in 2010.

Blessings,

Hi all,

I thought I would post this samples here so that you can see our work in progress.

I hope you are all doing Ok and in good health and spirit.

A few months ago, our California band (Intern. Men Of Mystery) started the recording of 16 early Cliff songs.
Here a few samples of just the music recordings, raw, unmixed, directly from the 4 inch tape.
The lead guitar solos will be a little bit louder when the sound man comes back.
I also do the chord riffs and they are louder than they should be.
We have yet to add the vocals.
I hope you will like it:

I'm The Lonely One
Here Comes Summer
On The Beach
True Love Will Come To You

Blessings to all,
Abel

"Nine Times Out of Ten": Danny Dean & The Men Of Mystery

Postby abel » Sat Jul 27, 2013 8:52 pm

Hi all,

This is our live performance at the Fish Fry Festival Lion's Club Seal Beach, CA.
It was windy, the sound is fluctuating and I was losing my guitar sound off and on.

Blessings,
Abel

"Theme For Young Lovers": Danny Dean & The Men Of Mystery

Hi all,

Short video of our live performance at the Huntington Beach, CA. July 4th parade
perched on a moving float.
The clip was taken by a friend with his cell phone and I could'nt believe how good the sound came out given the circumstances.
The drums are crystal clear and the depth of the echo just right.

Blessings,
Abel

Hi all,

This is our live performance of "Do You Want to Dance" Cliff style
2 weeks ago:
Danny Dean and the Men of Mystery - Fish Fry, Seal Beach, CA.
It was windy hence the fluctuating sound.
Also, we don't hear the harmony vocals very well.

Hope you like it.

Blessings,
Abel

Hi Dave,

Glad you liked it.
We've had only 2 three hours rehearsal for the last year, hence the mistakes and misses
and we've done 3 gigs this year.
We got a pretty good feedback from the public though.

We are having fun doing this.

Blessings,
Abel
