Piet's eTap2hw unit.............

My strat doesn't clip, the SG does.
I think it depends on the guitar and how you play it.
There's a resistor that can be changed but it will only affect the clip light, not the sound or guitar tone.

Alan,
Clipping is not what you should get!

The FET configurations will emphasis a triode type of curve more when the level potentiometer is more opened. I would like to call this a harmonizer as FET's are NOT capable emulating triodes.

The configuration I use is based on a famous FET setup called 'Felzer valve' for people interested in the inner workings. The level potentiometer niveau should be set/trimmed pending your guitar characteristics and differs per guitar. It's a matter of using your ears finding your specifica 'sweet spot'.

Success,
Piet

I went to the Butcher's Arms (Rimington - near Chesterfield) last night to see Dave ("Robbo") and Pastmasters
Dave played "Midmight", "Flingel Bunt" & "Man of Mystery" amongst other pieces through the eTap2hw. The sound was superb. You need to hear the sound from this unit LIVE to appreciate just how good it is.
The recordings submitted by Dave onto the website help but there is no substitute for a live rendition.
Incidentally Pastmasters gigs at the Butchers (weekly, on a Thursday) are free and the Landlord/Landlady throw in a very good free supper.
IIf you have not seen the band yet I can unreservedly recommend seeing them - all great musicians in their own right and when they get together, probably the best band in the Midlands.

Best wishes

Tony

Hi Chaps,

JUst one question about the power supply for this unit. Ecca has said it should be a 12v DC - and he should know. However I am sure I saw a post where someone who had one of these units say they had obtained a 12v AC supply for it from Maplins.

Is it 12v DC and can you get that from Maplins?

Idiotic question no doubt, but it would be nice to be certain.

All the best,

Nick

I used a Uniross multi voltage psu set to 12v, but it did say on the unit AC/DC, so I tried it and it worked ok.

Hi Nick

The original spec was 12v (DC) center +ve which is slightly uncommon in the UK.
It is not a problem to modify the socket wiring to the more standard -ve center.
Best to check with Ecca if that's where you bought the unit from as to which it is.
If it is a kit you have bought, refer to the build instructions posted on the Echotapper site.

Cheers

Dick.

Thanks Alan, Dick and Ecca - it is precisely because of my comcern as expressed by Ecca's warning in the last post that I asked the question.

Ecca, did you get my note through the post today?

Thanks all.

All the best,

Nick
