Hi all,

I just purchased this Midi player (similar to the one in the picture, but in as new condition from Japan).
Unfortunately, the manual is completely in Japanese.
Is anyone familiar with this unit?. All I want to do is to upload midi files through the SmartMedia card, and playback
through my P.A.

I would appreciate any help.

This unit was only ever marketed in Japan. Hence no English/other manuals

Hi Mart,

You are right, I couldn't find any English translation of it.

However, so far, I have been able to figure out 4 important issues:

- I know how to handle the midi conversion for the SmartMedia card (8MB)and uploaded 99 midi files.
- I also just purchased a UK made Midi converter between Midi formats (0, 1, 2) as this unit reads only MIDI 0 format.
- I know now how to mute any track on the fly (Minus One function).
- I also purchased a 32 MB SmartMedia card, so I will be able to download 400 midi files, convert them to MIDI 0 format and play from the
unit, directly to my P.A.

I have to say that the sound is superior.

Back when I joined the Shadows Music forum, I was playing midi files through my CASIO keyboard floppy drive.
Now I have this tiny unit (6" x 5") very light with a fantastic sound and on the fly track customization.

If you can find one, buy it as they are rare but extremely convenient for handling and playing midi files.

I'll be flooding the forum with recordings now (Just kidding)

Blessings,
Abel
