Vintage/Original Burns Bison Wiring Diagram

Postby Parliament » 06 May 2017, 14:55

Hi y'all!

I have recently picked up an original 1962 Burns Black Bison, but some functions don't work and circuit requires some repairing to do. I've been looking like CRAZY for an original wiring diagram, all I've found is the reissue one that looks nothing like it.

Anyone care to help? I'd much appreciate!!!

Thank you!

3 pickup. But the one nivramarvin posted isn't the one, I thought it was too but turns out it isn't. The original Burns circuit has 3 transformers and pins to the rotary double switch are very differently connected. If anyone has the one I'm referring to it'd be great!!

Thanks again, folks

If there are 3 transformers in the setup, surely that indicates the early Burns low impedance pickups- (weren't they labelled 'Ultrasound'), not TriSonics?

Which pickups does your guitar have?

Yes, it has the low impedance pickups indeed. I'm desperate for a schematic :(

Can't help with the scheme. I have this Bison 3PU inside pic - could be similar to the guitar you have?

Small chance the pics will tell you anything you don't know already - but worth a try I thought.

Harry Ellis might be able to help - he has done a few rebuilds of early ones. Coincidence someone in Spain has just asked for the same circuit diagrams

Also, in the meantime, anyone care to explain exactly what all the functions do? Both in A and B position. Especially interested in the Split mode, but if you can confirm the others, that would be much appreciated. Meaning, what pickups are associated together in every postion and mode (a or b), etc.

I know that the first schematic nivramarvin posted explains this in the table, but I don't think those functions work exactly that way in the vintage Bison.

Let me know what you guys think.

Cheers!
