On another site, I saw a reference to Floyd Cramer, which reminded me that in addition to his guitar playing, Hank was also a pretty good pianist!
I always liked Stand Up and Say That! from the first LP, and there was a similar piano tune called Kinda Cool on the Shads second LP IIRC..
Were there any subsequent tunes where Hank played piano?...I can't recall any..

Hank played piano on Bachelor Boy and The Next Time by Cliff...you can see him playing piano on BB on YouTube (the Pop Go The Sixties show on New Year's Eve 1969). It's difficult to be sure about him playing piano on anything else as Brian and of course Norrie Paramor were great pianists: Brian plays piano on Fourth Street off the Shadow Music LP, which stylistically is similar to Stand Up and Say That and Kinda Cool. Despite the efforts of Tony Hoffman, Lewry/Goodall etc. we still don't have detailed notes on Cliff/Shadows sessions available - unlike The Beatles at Abbey Road.
Hank played all the keyboards on his Words and Music LP, according to the sleeve notes.

That's Norrie Paramor on piano. I think he also played piano on "Shazam". I'm not entirely sure, but I think Hank also played piano on "That's The Way It Goes" and "The Dreams I Dream". If you want to know more about instrumentation on The Shadows' recordings, take a look at my feature on this subject:

Except on the tracks "Don't Talk" and "The Trouble With Me Is You".
Hank also played keyboards on a couple of tracks on his "Hank Plays Holly" album.

From what I can remember from reading the paperback The Shadows By Themselves which was decades ago now, Hank had piano lessons but stopped when he went to grammar school with the excuse, 'I have too much homework now.'
Pity that book can't be re issued, it would be a must for fans.

The Shadows By Themselves was reissued in 2014 as part of Cliff Richard and The Shadows - A Rock 'n' Roll Memoir by Royston Ellis. Not sure if it's still available.
BTW - I stand corrected on the two tracks on Words and Music that Hank didn't play keyboards on - thanks Ivo - and thinking Hank played piano on The Next Time; I'm sure I read years ago that Hank played piano on that song but it is more likely to be Norrie!
