off topic: which humbuckers for LP

I play classic rock; I don't like the pickups in my LesPaul Custom (1990), because the bridge pu is a little too sharp and the the neck pu is too boomy/muddy. and is just as loud as the bridge pu, although I put it very low (far from the strings). They are sort of PAF's; not the original 90's pu's which had a little too much output. Maybe seth lovers or classic 57's?

When I had a Les Paul it sounded brilliant with a Seymour Duncan Jazz in the neck position and a JB in the bridge (SH-2n and SH-4 respectively). I believe they both use 4-conductor wiring so are coil splittable, although I didn't bother on mine.

My 89 Les paul has the Bill lawrence humbuckers fitted, these were on gibsons between 88 and 90. Im surprised that yours aren't.
They are very powerfull though and i need to roll back the volume and tone a fair bit.

The very popular Tonerider Alnico IIs give an almost bell like sound, reminiscent of the original PAFs and they are a good price. I have them fitted in a SG. Look them up- there are quite a few demoes on Youtube.
