Hi Ian
These Came originaly fitted with
D'Addario Chromes flatwound medium gauge
050 070 085 105
ECB 82

i tried fender And thomastik flats on mine but went back to the original D'addarios
as it sounded and felt better with the string tension etc.
if you want a lighter guage with less tension go for the thomastiks
but remember to check the neck bow and adjust the truss rod if needed.

Hi Ian

Must admit I have aped John Rostill himself and never changed the strings on mine, so they are whatever Barry Gibson put on them. The Rostill sound relies on picking on the neck side of the toast rack, the pickup selection you choose (Neck & Middle or Neck & Bridge) and the strings being fairly dead.

I use Thomastiks on my P-bass and I'm sure I would do the same if restringing the Burns bass.

Hope this helps - Iain
