Crossovers

Postby Gruntfuttock » 02 Oct 2018, 10:33

Not sure if I'm allowed to post this here! I have a pair of B&W DM2 Series 2 Speakers circa 1978. I've had them from new, and they are great. As the crossovers are 40 yeaers old, I'd like to have them upgraded. Does anyone know an expert or company that can provide this service? All help advice gratefully received.
Many thanks. Dave

Why don't you ask B&W ? the company is still active. A crossover must be perfectly matched to the speakers, and there are little ways to improve it, particularly when designed by a company like B&W, unless if it uses chemical capacitors which may ave aged...

The Lounge is a free-for-all and you can post anything you like in it, along as it conforms with the usual site rules. There are specific subject forums for more detailed discussion as well but, if in doubt, you can always use The Lounge.

Hope this helps - Iain

Hi Didier. Yes B&W are still with us. However, my speakers are now 40 years old and parts are very hard to find. I tried B&W UK and North America but no luck.
The speakers travelled from UK to South Africa. Back to the UK. Then off to China. Then off to Japan where they were stored for five years. Now we have a larger apartment I can finally bring them out of mothballs. They’re great speakers and I’m very attached to them.

Thanks Ian for your clarification.
