Hopefully these will have a lot more capabilities than the previous examples. I love the Zoom G3x

Probably needs 4 tape delays setting up like on G3 series Paul. Can use 5 effects at once.

Thanks Roger, that would seem to be an option but wouldn't leave much room for any other signal processing.

I think the G3 series ran up to 6 effects at once. This is 5 effects at once. I did program a G3 using two tape delays for the loudest echoes and a dual delay for the other 2 echos. That left 3 effects for other stuff like eq. Not sure this will be much better than a G3 overall just a minor revision.

They are good units though plenty of players like them. Not very keen on the amp sims on the G3 , but Zoom did announce improvements in that area a while back.

When programming such units with 4 separate delays one of the considerations is how they process the delay signals. The Zoom G3 handled that fairly well. Ideally I believe they should be in parallel not series. Not sure how the Zoom handles this. Tried programming a POD XT and the delays were clearly in series and it sounded too much !

You need to dial the echos down a bit to get decent results due to the way the delays are added together at the output. I discussed this with Charlie Hall a few years back and we agreed on this.

I have the G3x. I realised that when using several delays to try and get a multi-tap -- the full direct and echo from the earlier delay is fed to the following. This prevents the configuration of a full multi tap.
I did email Zoom on this as I felt it a real shortcoming. No answer.

I have set up effects which are ok and others have commented favourably on the sound. I suppose some would note that the delays are not Quite!! as it were,

It's a pity really as sorting this - I feel - would put the icing on the cake.
