Electrified - Smithsonian Channel

Postby SJB » 30 Apr 2019, 21:00

I watched this last evening - I recorded it from the day before(I Think).

The program covered the development of the electric guitar from pre- electric era to today.
As the program progressed it mentioned each of the main players of the day. Got to Buddy Holly and then to Clapton - Hendrix etc. Absolutely no mention of the Shadows or Hank.

The content seemed ok - except missing our shads. It makes you wonder what else they missed.

Did anyone else see this - comment !!

I tried to find this documentary on-line...not much luck..what TV channel did it air on in the UK please?

I'd really like to see it (especially the early part) because I'm fascinated by the earliest electric guitars, bass guitars etc, and I believe the Smithsonian has a number of such instruments.

Thanks for the post! :)

Hi John, Ian from Sydney Shadows Club here.

Smithsonian Channel website will give you some info, however,it does state they are not available to viewers outside USA.

They do have a subscription service which you may like to check.

Best wishes, good hunting!

Further to above if you search for "Electrified The Guitar Revolution" you will get several responses.

Best of what I could find is just a 5 minute clip from a 40 minute episode originally produced in 2010!
