HI Alan, Jim,

My experience with Adorama is so disappointing. I just received the Bigsby arm after several attempts and it is huge and looks horrible.
See picture. (it's the same, but stainless).
Could you please tell me the exact name of the one you have on your Gretsch?

Thank you much,

Hi Abel, I got mine from arkansasmusicworks via eBay. The description was ‘NEW Bigsby 0843 Chet Atkins Tremolo Arm & Bracket - CHROME’. The item number was 392226857381 although I don’t know if you can still view the details. I did send you a picture of it on Facebook, so hope this info is what you need.

Hi Abel, I just checked and still have the packaging. It looks like it could be an Allparts part and is described as a Stainless Bigsby Chet Atkins Arm & Assembly, part number; BP-0706-005 which looks like an Arkansas Music sticker. Hope this helps.
ps if you google the part number above, you will see images of the arm plus sellers.

The one with the end of the arm bent into a near-circle is (I think) a Merle Travis-style arm.

The Chet Atkins arm (so called) has a more familiar shape:

What an exciting performance! Well done, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I’m sure you’d do a great version of That’s Alright Mama too!

Hi all,

Jim,
Adorama sent me whatever they had in stock, but that wasn't what I ordered.

Hi Iain,
Glad you liked it.
What makes it exciting is very much the orchestra backing. I just love playing against a big band background.
Unfortunately a couple of strings went out of tune very early in the performance.

Great idea you are suggesting (That's alright Mama). I just hope I can find a nice BT for it.

Blessings to all,
Abel

Actually that doesn't matter much. When I was learning early rock'n'roll and studying what the upright bass players were doing, their emphasis seemed to be on the rhythm. Sometimes the notes were a bit dubious! But the overall sound worked :)
