Radio Sounds Familiar

Postby Keith Bateman » Fri Sep 27, 2019 12:28 pm

If, like me, you appreciate the melodic light music we grew up with in our youth, you might well enjoy this internet radio station. It is 99% instrumental and is described thus on the website: "The format of the Radio Sounds Familiar is Library (production) Music, Television, Radio Themes and Cues. A smattering of Film Music and the Quirky. Combined with archive Commercials, Jingles, idents and Announcements from the 1950's to the 1990s."

The Shadows connection is the Library (production) Music where you will regularly hear Brian's and Alan Hawkshaw's pieces amongst others.

No adverts (apart from the occasional vintage one for fun) and no news. Just 24 hour good music. It might not be available outside the UK.

I'm interested to know what others think of it.

I've had a look at the link that you gave Keith but cannot see anywhere what frequency the radio station broadcasts on.

It's an internet radio station Roger. You can listen on your computer or phone via the website. If you have an internet radio try a search for the station.

OK I understand, but for me that is a misuse of the word 'Radio'.

It works just fine in Finland. My personal favourite is this website, though: http://theepexpressradiostation.weebly.com/
It plays both released and unreleased versions of Elvis Presley's recordings. I enjoy nothing so much as hearing Elvis sing off key. :D Right now the site is offline for maintenance, but it'll be online in a few hours.
