Hello, all. What guitars were used for the original recording of Jet Black? I searched this form, but unfortunately turned up nothing.
Regards, Andy
PS: sorry for the typo in the subject heading. I cannot correct it, it seems.

I think 'Jet Black' would have been recorded the pre Fender days, so my guess is that Hank would have had his Antoria, Jet the Framus and Bruce the Vega.

It is quite amazing what they did with those guitars. They were all very talented, and it was serendipitous that they cane together to play.
We’ll try to play “Jet Black.” Thanks again, Fave.

Thd “starter” guitars here in the early 1960s were Hofner and Guyatone, apart from the locally made guitars. One of my friends still has his Guyatone. I’ll see if it looks like Hank’s Antoria.
I’m learning Jet Black. There are some parts that are hard to replicate. Hank seems to have used thin strings.
My best wishes for the holidays and the New Year.

Hi Andy,
I agree that the guitars used on the recording would have been as Dave says. If I remember correctly, we didn't have any 'thin' gauge strings in those days. Certainly here in the UK. And, they all seemed to be 'Roundwound'.

Also, we had the Guyatone brand over here in the early '60s.

Thanks, Tony.
What is perhaps also surprising is that Jet Black was very well known here on the islands in the early 1960s.
