I bet the anoraks are checking out the reunited tour...they all recognise Hank's No. 1 strat.....I don't mind admitting that I'm an anorak.... 8-)

I agree with those who think it's a compensated nut:

https://guitarnutcompensation.com

I later came across this, which looks just like a standard black nut on the one he is showing?

There are probably going to material differences too, but I certainly won't be rushing out anytime soon Dave, come to think of it I don't rush anywhere these days! LOL

Hi Gary,

I've that DVD and it's a nice one.
Back then in 2004 Hanks guitars didn't have a compensated nut.
There are DIY kits to customize the nut on your guitars and also ready to fit nuts.
Well none of the hits and all of the shads recordings had the "benefit"of a compensated nut.....and they all sounded great.
So I wont bother to go that route, I'm used to the standard nut (yes I have noticed and can hear the differences) but I won't butcher my pre-cbs guitars.
Thinking of customize all my guitars .....

Cheers Rob

Thank you again chaps, for all your replies.

Don't think I will be getting one, as I will need a special compensated one for each guitar. I could see myself wasting a lot of time, money and effort, to achieve the near impossible - and I only need to please and audience of one = me!

Keep safe friends,
Kindest regards,
Christopher

I have just checked my Delux strat.
The "A" on the G string seems to be the biggest issue.
Question is - "Why don't they fit compensated Nuts to all new guitars"? Can't be that much of a production issue or cost.
