Totem Pole

Peter Jay and the Jaywalkers were a very good group and I would imagine that they would have been great seen live.
To my surprise when I was looking up details on this tune I found that it had also been recorded by the Honeycombs.
Anyway here is my version of "Totem Pole" - I hope that you enjoy it.

Hi Roger,

Really enjoyed this and I hope this on your next backing track album.

The main hook of the melody immediately reminded me of the theme music from the BBC TV 70's series entitled 'Howard's Way' that The Shadows recorded on their 'Simply Shadows' album. I thought it was good enough to merit a track in its own right but obviously they thought differently.

Cheers,

Ian

Thanks for your replies Ian and Iain.

Yes the main hook of the number is indeed the same as Howard's Way but in view of Peter Jay & the Jaywalkers being recorded in 1963 I'm guessing that it came before the TV series which was first screened in 1985.

Joe Meek wrote Totem Pole for Peter Jay & The Jaywalkers in 1963 later covered by The Honeycombs in 1964.
Howards Way was written and recorded by Simon May Orchestra 1987
