I was surfing the internet last week and decided to take a look again at the website of Burns London and I found out about Barry Gibson's retirement only then. I am happy I purchased my Shadows Bass in time, about one and a half years ago, because this one isn't available anymore. I wonder if it will be available again and also the Burns Marvin.

Well, whatever way you look at it, the "New Burns Company has to look closely at a much
younger generation of guitar buyers and appeal to them in product and price ranges that suit
their relevant budgets.
The Marquee seemed to attract a lot of users in Indie Bands around 2000- 2005 or so and made
some healthy sales for Burns back then probably.
Indeed a quality instrument with versatile tones around the £249 tag at the time.
Yes its a very competitive market out there, and challenging times for all manufacturers in the
coming and near future

I think we need to remember that Burns guitars have been built in China for a number of years under the management of Alan Entwistle apart from a few built / refurbished by Marc Lamaq which featured the neck pocket. These can be viewed on his Facebook sire.

Was the Dream model made in China as well? If so, that seems a high asking price for a Chinese-made instrument.

The Jazz models shown are all Alan Entwistle manufacture / Design so interesting times ahead if Alan not involved.

An interesting post from Alan Entwistle over on Facebook, so hopefully sme good news at last:

"Just to mention i have been in a long meeting with the new owners of Burns London Ltd, and i would like to assure all in our community that they are infact very dedicated to restoring a very high degree of authenticity and quality to the range, this is as i am sure you will all understand a massive undertaking, and obviously will take quite some time, but the end result will be well worth the wait!"

I should add, I checked with Alan first and he is content for me to post his news here :) .
