R.I.P. Royce Derrick

Postby Graham C. Marshall » 18 Apr 2021, 17:26

Royce, a stalwart of the East Yorkshire club for many years, died recently at home aged 74 years. A very likeable guy whose singular style of playing was guaranteed to grab the attention of audiences, and backing musicians who were skilled enough to adapt their timing. My son and I will miss him.

Sad news indeed, Royce's infamous rendition of Santa-Ana will be sorely missed, especially by any rhythm, and bass players brave enough to tackle it. RIP Royce ⚘
