An important point you should understand with regard to heating pole pieces. Heat applied to magnets can and will result in loss of magnetism in varying degrees. Also the same will happen if the magnet is subjected to shock like tapping a pole piece to alter it’s location in the bobbin.

Side note: Is the abbreviation "pups" common for "pickups"? In German, "pups" is an expression for unwanted flatulence. Sounds amusing. How about "PUs"?

You know how lazy we English are with slang Wolfgang. PUs is a perfectly good abbreviation, and is indeed frequently used. In the meantime some of us will continue to break wind in ignorance. :o
