Just learned that Don Wilson, founder member of the Ventures, passed away on the 22nd, aged 88.
His work must be familiar to many on here; with over 100 million records sold, the Ventures were the most successful instrumental band of all time. Don Wilson first met Bob Bogle in 1958 when the latter dropped into a used car dealership owned by Wilson senior. They formed the Ventures the next year (Don's mum suggested the name), recruited Nokie Edwards, and the rest is history.
