Kemper / Pedals

Postby clivea » 04 May 2022, 17:37

I read an old thread from 2016 recently ....

Look out Binson, Meazzi, HCSE......Kemper have announced that they are looking at including new software with their Profiling Amps that will allow not only the Cloning of the amp's tone/sound but also any effects unit. This means if you get your hands on the device you like then you could Clone the entire selection of factory presets....and it's all legal....wow!.....software say Kemper was developed in conjunction with Baye Inc Electronics...a major player in Silicon Valley....Isn't Technology Great?.......

Can't remember who posted it, but I would like to know if this is in fact, is possible and if so, how?

There's nothing in the manual explaining this.

Thus explains effect cloning, but seems to be used by some for overdrive type sounds, not so sure this could clone an echo or reverb or modulation effect. Seems to clone the overdrive sound in a similar way that amps might be cloned. That is like an overdiven amp.

No Clive, but have looked into it and understand how it works fairly well. Bit pricey for me to justify. They are snapshots of amps operating under certain settings , so if you profile an AC30 , you get a profile of the amp under one set of conditions. I do not thing you could then use that profile , changing tone controls on the Kempler and getting a match to the AC30 control settings. Best you could do us likely a setting to suit a particular tune and profile that. So you would need a profile patch for individual tunes.

Bit like IR speaker responses, where a mic placement on a certain speaker can be imitated, but need several IR's to cover the different mic positions , rather than one IR that you can adjust. Interesting tech though.

AXE FX is another similar concept.
