For reasons I'm not going to go into, I am devastated that I shan't be able to be at the Broadstairs show :-(

I'm going to redouble my efforts to see this much-praised show, though.

Happy new year, everyone! Thanks to everyone who made it to a show in 2022. It was great to catch up with friends old and new. Here's hoping that 2023 will be even bigger and better!

The dates I can announce so far for this year are as follows:

Sunday 14th May

The OP has been updated and there are plenty of other gigs in the pipeline. Further announcements coming very soon!

I've got my work cut out, working with my Amy to arrange gigs, writing sets, learning new material, making backing tracks, programming lighting, sorting publicity, etc. Not to mention co-ordinating and performing my smaller daytime community gigs!

Take care, all, and see you soon.

Well, Friday night with a near-sell-out crowd in Cwmbran with Jimmy Jemain and the Swinging Blue Jeans (in replacement of Union Gap, who had to pull out) was a blast!

Onto the next gig announcement. I've had masses of requests about when I'm bringing the show back to South Yorkshire. 'Team Shadowing Hank' is no longer working alongside RKC Promotions, which means return visits to Doncaster Little Theatre or the Academy Theatre in Birdwell are now unlikely. I'm happy to say, though, that I'm coming back to Doncaster, and to a new venue!

Friday 19th May
Doncaster Catholic Club
FULL SHOW (with a chance to rock 'n' roll)
Tickets available at the venue
For information call: 01302 364695

This show was being planned some months ago... and then, at just about the same time, the South Yorkshire Shadows Club decided to reveal the Catholic Club as their new home! (The venue had given us a heads-up.) I can see why they chose it: we were in Sheffield yesterday to collect some equipment so Amy and I took the chance to deliver the tickets and have a look at the room - what a beautiful performance space! I can't imagine a better room for a show of this size. And the people are brilliant; great fun and so welcoming! I think this show in May could be one of the highlights of my year!

There has apparently been a lot of interest from the members of the Catholic Club, and with the combination of members of the Shads club, plus the interest from my established audience from my previous shows in the area, I have a feeling tickets are going to sell quickly... so get yours whilst you can!

It's been a while since the last update. Huge thanks to everyone who has come to a show so far this year.

After a fairly quiet start to the year for Shadowing Hank shows, a clear 'season' has appeared for 2023.

For theatre shows I'm going to start specifying in these listings which version of the show is to be performed (there are currently three setlists). Because I do not have distinct 'tours' I make sure each venue gets the same order of shows no matter when I started performing there; ie: the setlist of the first visit will always be the 'Mk 1' show which first launched in 2018. Mk 2 was first performed in 2021 and Mk 3 in 2023.

Here are the latest additions to the gig list:

Tuesday 22nd August
Bodelwyddan Castle Hotel, North Wales (Warner Leisure Hotels)
Hour-long afternoon show as part of Warner's four-day 'Sixties Festival'

Friday 25th August

Friday 1st September
Cranleigh Arts, Surrey
FULL THEATRE SHOW (Mk1)
Ticket reservations: 01483 278000

Saturday 2nd September
Aldwick Royal British Legion, Bognor Regis
FULL SHOW (with a chance to rock 'n' roll)
For information call: 01243 262645

Saturday 23rd September
Shaftesbury Arts Centre, Dorset
FULL THEATRE SHOW (Mk1)
Ticket reservations: 01747 854321

Saturday 21st October
Pokesdown and Southbourne Ex-Servicemens Club, Bournemouth

For information call: 01202 424458

Saturday 25th November
Sleaford Legionnaires Club, Lincolnshire
Hour-long set as part of 'Festival of the '60s' show (other acts TBA)
For tickets call: 01522 576238 (daytime) or 07729 097235

Saturday 2nd December
Earlsheaton Central Working Mens Club, Wakefield
FULL SHOW (with a chance to rock 'n' roll)

Other shows for 2023 are to be announced soon, including at least two more theatres.

Another theatre show to add to the gig list:

Friday 15th September
Station Theatre, Hayling Island
FULL THEATRE SHOW (Mk2)
Ticket reservations: 0333 666 3366
Click here for tickets: https://www.stationtheatre.co.uk/show.php?name=shadowinghank

We had a wonderful night in 2019 in this wonderful little theatre, with a near sell-out audience, and I'm finally returning. Get your tickets straight away; the theatre says this will sell quickly.

I'm hoping to be at Cranleigh next Friday.

If there are no tickets left, I'll be ringing you!

And I was there!

Quick few questions for everyone reading:

(a) What was Hank's first solo single?

(b) What was Hank's second solo single?

(c) What was Hank's third solo single?

[By solo single, I mean 7" 45rpm records with at least one side credited to Hank Marvin or Hank B Marvin, not to Cliff and Hank or any similar combination.]
