I am not in a position to name equipment having never knowingly heard Magistomp or ESE, have heard programmed Q/verbs but not impressed. The sound is certainly Shadow-esque,but I am surprised that several people have remarked that it is a good sound,- not especially good to my ears. Although some people are incredibly fussy re. the number of echo repeats etc. I would be more concerned about the overall sound quality of which of course the repeats are a part, but repeats without tone in my view are insufficient.

Thanks for comments so far...

Interesting that some folks "hedge their bets" rather than put a stake in the ground, and other haven't posted at all. Be assured, there's no trick involved here... what you hear is an amateur (you can tell that from the phrasing) playing a tune, with a very home made recording. And I will be happy to tell who. and through what in due course.

Hi Didier, I'd say that it sounds like a digital machine because of the 'clinical' repeats, but I know because I have done it myself, that a tape echo can be adjusted to sound just as cold, so who knows. :)

On my system the muted repeats in the gallop section are very muffled and overpowered by the BT so I can't make them out clearly. I quite like the tone of the guitar itself but as to whether it's the 'Apache' tone is something few will probably agree upon - I think the original was a harder sound and played nearer the bridge but this sample would be fine for many other tracks, though.
Of course this is where we're told it's not a strat and recorded in someone's bathroom with an old mike . . . ;)

I was going to let this run a little longer Roger...(some notable protagonists haven't posted :? ) but as it's you...

This is about as far from a traditional vintage setup as you can get...

KInman pickups, EFTP Q2 with original setup, Award Session Acetone amp (so not a valve in sight...) recorded direct into a Fostex FD4 in 1998...

For my money, every now and then, I can hear the magic in this clip. The upload/rip process has compressed and dulled everything. Playing? Pretty inaccurate as noted above... but I did get better... didn't I? :?
