Hi David,

You might want to have a look at "Avast", I've been using this for a couple a years now, since I got fed up with AVG.

The "home" version is free and it updates sometimes 2 or 3 times a week.

It's available at www.avast.com (surprising name for the site!!!)

American, of course, but it appears to be good.

Regards

Brian

I've just moved from AVG Free to Avast and have to say that I am very impressed with it. It updates at least once a day.

Embarrassingly, the first virus it picked up was when I tried to open my homepage and it woudn't let me. I discovered that my virgin webspace had been hacked. After calls to India, and refusing to accept any responsibility, I finally got them to offer me a faster broadband PLUS a reduction in price which were implemented within 5 minutes. Mind you, I did change my password as well.

Well done Avast. I also like the way you tell me that the virus definitions have been updated; nice voice.

Hi David,
I know its just my opinion and everybody is different but I think the Microsoft version is one of the poorest. I rate PC Tools firewall, and Avast antivirus which again is updated sometimes twice daily but always once.
The firewall is totally configureable or if you don't want to play just set it to the basic which will protect you on line.

BTW I have some photo's of you when you brought along your new strat to the Derby club before Xmas if you want them. Mail or PM me and I'll send them off to you.

Regards,

Steve.
